“I write in exile from a dark planet called Earth. My story begins in Andromeda.” Grinberg.
Do you like investigative documentaries, science, and a bit of extrasensory phenomena? Then read this story from the documentary titled “The Secret of Doctor Jacobo Grinberg”, produced by Polar Star Films in collaboration with Primo and Ida Cuellar. The work has received recognition at DocsMX 2020, DocsValència 2020, and DocsBarcelona 2021.
It tells the story related to the disappearance of Jacobo Grinberg in 1994. Interviews with family and friends present various hypotheses and theories about what may have happened. Some suspect his then-wife. Commander Clemente Padilla follows the leads: he checked the residence and noticed that the hard drives of the electronic devices were missing, as well as disks or CDs, and the theses or books he was working on. In a participation by Estusha Grinberg on the show “Siempre en Domingo,” she presented a photograph of her father asking anyone who had seen him to please get in touch. Later, a witness claimed to have seen him in Boulder, Colorado. However, from that moment on, both family members and the Mexican government authorities withdrew financial and institutional support. Another person was put in charge of the investigation, who did everything possible to dispute Padilla’s suspicions, and Padilla was removed from his position. Among the “suspicious” things is that on one occasion, President Zedillo requested Padilla to know the progress of the investigation, but not through the traditional chain of command, rather through two personal envoys. It is also curious that his then-wife, Teresa, also disappeared. When his brother attempted to reopen the investigation and brought his copy of the file to an investigative agency, the responsible person “lost” the documents.
Who was Grinberg, and why so much suspense surrounding his disappearance? He was known as the “Einstein of consciousness,” straddling the worlds of spiritual mediums and science. He met and collaborated with “Pachita,” a healer who performed operations with nothing more than a field knife. He also received support from the sister of a president of the Republic. It was precisely at Los Pinos where Margarita López Portillo introduced him to Pachita. Grinberg committed the indiscretion of publishing that anecdote, even after being warned not to do so. Shortly thereafter, he disappeared, just before conducting an experiment to test the possibility of telepathy between two people, one in India and the other in Mexico. Grinberg pushed the study of psychophysiology beyond the borders of traditional science in an attempt to approach the infinite potential of the human brain. Serious and meticulous, a professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM, and director of a modern laboratory, sometimes compared to Carlos Castañeda, Dr. Grinberg researched and experimented until he demonstrated the signs of telepathy.
Grinberg was born in 1946. In his teenage years, he met his ex-wife Lizette Ardith on a trip to Israel. At that time, Jacobo encountered a spiritist who provided a connection to that “other reality” known to mystics and shamans. He later divorced his wife. He studied for a doctorate in New York, where he was in contact with counterculture and advanced science, such as Erwin Roy John. In the 70s, he taught several children to develop extrasensory perception, but many began to see “ugly things,” from other realities or dimensions, and stopped doing that. He later married Teresa. It is believed that this was not his wife’s real name; rather, she probably faked her identity. With the release of secret documents by the CIA, Commander Padilla was able to confirm his suspicions that Grinberg had collaborated with the American Research Agency, as a simple search of Dr. Jacobo Grinberg’s name in that database reveals articles discussing his work.
All good intelligence and espionage services are based on maintaining secrecy around their operations. However, political control comes sooner or later. That is why the CIA has had no choice but to publish online more than 12 million declassified documents. Some address sensitive topics such as UFOs and mind control experiments.
Eduardo Álvarez, for Computer Hoy, 2017
It is not that these CIA files were entirely secret, but the Agency had done everything possible to prevent them from being read. Already in 1995, the declassification of all documents of historical interest over 25 years old was ordered. However, the agency only made them accessible through four computers across the country. Nowadays, these previously secret documents can be consulted online, which provide information regarding UFO sightings, operations in Cuba during the Cold War, the Star Gate project on telepathy, the MK Ultra mind control project, etc.
The documentary presents arguments that tell us how “closed” academia was to non-traditional mental faculties. It also mentions how the RAND Corporation, a subsidiary of the State Department in the United States, controls aspects of science and research. At that time, Grinberg was seen as a shaman to scientists and a scientist to shamans, straddling two worlds. Currently, there is a bit more openness, and we hope it will continue to grow. Several scientists exploring consciousness, as well as artists, spiritual people, and mediums, are working to expand what we know about the mind and human capabilities. In 1982, Alain Aspect demonstrated Non-Locality, an area of science in which Grinberg worked. Since 1935, the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen theory was presented, which was confirmed in 1995. Physicist Amit Gioswami states that Grinberg was a genius, and Sperry Andrews, founder of the Human Connection Institute, finds the story interesting. The legacy left by Grinberg is an extensive bibliography of 46 books published from 1987 to 1994, related to Mexican shamanism, Eastern disciplines, meditation, astrology, and telepathy through the scientific method.
