We often hear the term influencer, and some people even try to become one, hence their interest in constantly posting content on social media. You are probably wondering how many followers do you need to achieve the goal? With a few hundred, 200 followers, you can be a nano-influencer (mini-influencer), up to 20,000 followers to be an influencer as such. With at least 40,000 and up to a million followers, there are the macro-influencers. Some charge to advertise products to their followers, and the more traffic they generate, the higher their fees. On Instagram, the minimum to charge as an influencer is around 700 followers. Businesses generally pay between 10 USD and 500 USD for every 1,000 followers, depending on your niche and engagement.
According to The Advertising Standards Authority, ASA, UK, it takes 30,000 followers to be an Internet “celebrity”. This also means that they must follow strict rules in their ads and posts. Although this could be a micro-celebrity since in general terms it is considered that to be a celebrity you need a million followers in some of the social networks, and to be a great-celebrity, at least a million followers in several networks. Although network regulation is a current issue in Europe, Asia, Australia, North America, it is not the case everywhere. In Latin America and the Caribbean, there is still no great progress in terms of Internet regulation, and this may be due to several geopolitical factors, to be addressed on another occasion.
