Yellow Day 2025, celebrated on June 20th, is recognized as the happiest day of the year. It’s often seen as a counterpoint to Blue Monday, the supposed saddest day of the year, and is celebrated with a focus on positivity and happiness. The day’s popularity stems from the end of spring, the start of summer, and the positive associations with longer days, warmer temperatures, and the anticipation of vacation.

Origin and Concept

The Yellow Day concept was developed by psychologist Cliff Arnall, who also created the Blue Monday formula. Arnall sought to identify a day with a positive combination of factors, including weather, holidays, and general well-being.

Cliff Arnall, was a tutor at the Centre for Lifelong Learning, a Further Education centre attached to Cardiff University.
