Discover the Rock Zen experience! 🎶✨ Atma Unum and their album “Cor” at Salón Tea. #AtmaUnum #RockZen 🎤🌟 https://wp.me/p3JLEZ-7Df
I share with you the following publication, which mentions my music participation, as part of the event “Zen Roca Maleficarum” at Salón Tea on August 26, 2017. The album titled “Cor!” was presented live, showcasing rock zen. This is part of the process of digitizing the Atma Unum archive.

On this occasion, the theme will be
With the participation of:
- Visual artist Agnés Fornells, who will present her two series of photos about Mexico City: “Del otro lado” and “¿Emplacement réservé?”.
- Artist Mariano Soto, who will explain and demonstrate his painting live: “Sumi-e, Zen Painting: discipline and attention”.
- Artist and designer Angélica Peña “Elefante Rosa,” who will present her provocative videoperformance “El Malleus Maleficarum” or “The Witch Hammer”.
- Plastic artist and literate José J. González, who will introduce the independent and self-managed literary creation magazine “Dislexia Mundial”.
- The band Arma Unum featuring Ki Victorieux, A.K.A., Iris Atma, Aggeler, who will perform rock zen.
Presentation I:
“Del otro lado” and “¿Emplacement réserver?” Agnès Fornells (visual artist)
Theme:
The presentation will consist of a selection of photos that are part of these two series, created in Mexico City at the end of 2015.
The first series evokes, with fragments of the city reflected in puddles, a reversed perception and the feeling of being “on the other side of the pond,” not fully understanding the local logic. With these images, I seek a new sense of reading the environment and an interpretation of the relationship between the city and water.
The second series documents, in a mode of collection or cataloging, a variety of objects or minimalist constructions found deposited next to the sidewalk to prevent car parking. I was intrigued by the improvised and urban sculptural aspect of these deposits along the street.
Both series are related to a specific context that becomes mysterious from an outsider’s perspective.
CV:
Agnès Fornells is a visual artist who lives in Montpellier (France), where she graduated in 1998 from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. She has carried out various residencies and creative stays abroad, particularly in Spain and Latin America. Her work mainly focuses on photographic and video imagery. She addresses public space, its uses and occupations, as well as the relationships between the individual, the collective, and the context involved in the different expressions of culture. She captures her images without staging, in the social space. Using this material captured on-site, or collected from the street, she constructs a new space through framing, editing, or presenting it in a different location.
Talk/Live Demonstration I:
Sumi-e, Zen Painting: discipline and attention. Mariano Soto (artist)
Theme:
Sumi-e is an ancient eastern painting technique traditionally used by Zen monks as a method of meditation in monasteries, much like other practices such as the tea ceremony, archery, or calligraphy.
The materials required are minimal but very special: a good wolf hair brush, Chinese ink, rice paper, and water—little more. With these noble materials, a world of possibilities opens up for the artist, a journey of learning and searching for the essence that will last a lifetime.
In this encounter, artist Mariano Soto will discuss his work, the different styles he explores, and how the discipline required in the practice of eastern painting has influenced his artistic trajectory and work.
To illustrate the talk, the artist will perform a live painting demonstration, working with ink on rice paper and explaining the most relevant details about this technique.
CV:
Mariano Soto holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and studied in different schools and universities in Italy.
After years of experimenting with various painting techniques, particularly focusing on research and practice within contemporary abstract painting of large formats, Mariano Soto discovered and concentrated on the techniques of eastern painting, deepening his training alongside master Li Chi Pang.
He is the founder and director of the “Fondamenta” art gallery in Palma de Mallorca, an exciting experience that allowed him to delve into and understand the ins and outs of the art world from a business perspective. His interests have also led him to engage in poetic writing and psychoanalytical studies.
Currently, he divides his time between Mexico and Spain, where he works as a painter, teacher, communicator, and cultural manager, conducting exhibitions, courses, art workshops, and conferences.
Videoperformance I:
Maléfica Educare. Angélica Peña “Elefante Rosa” (independent artist and designer)
Theme:
CONTEXT: The Malleus Maleficarum or the Hammer of Witches is considered the most infamous work in history. There are plenty of reasons to classify it this way: it was, for three centuries, the fundamental resource available to the Inquisition for priests, magistrates, and judges—both Catholic and Protestant—in their fight against witchcraft.
Is there freedom of expression in Mexico?
Two years ago, the Mexican state disappeared 43 students and executed three young activists from the Rural Normal School Isidro Burgos in Ayotzinapa, Guerrero. This brutal act of censorship and repression against a group of political dissidents opened the world’s eyes to the true nature of Mexico. What was burned in the Cocula landfill were not the 43 Ayotzinapa students, but any semblance of democratic governance.
OBJECTIVE: To generate reflection, IDENTIFICATION, awareness, and criticism regarding the current situation in the country based on the narrative of the videoperformance.
Specifically, in relation to the tortuous similarities of the Malleus Maleficarum regarding the VIOLENCE EXERCISED ON OUR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AND THE EDUCATIONAL AND INTELLECTUAL FRAMEWORK STALLED IN OUR COUNTRY today, centering on the unfortunate events involving the 43 Ayotzinapa students.
